Tributes paid to coffee shop legend, Joe Brucciani

Brucciani’s coffee shops will always evoke fond memories for many Barrovians. Remember the little the pin ball machine, and the sound of the hot milky coffees being made in the frothing machine?

The popular Dalton Road shops were always busy as people queued for hot Vimto, freshly made sandwiches, coke floats, fresh cream donuts and their hot frothy coffee (which was one of their trademarks), along with the delicious home-made ice cream that everyone loved.

Sadly we heard that Joseph Brucciani had died on Wednesday 28th November at the age of 88 years.

Joe’s daughter, Theresa Miloseski, told us “Dad was one of three brothers who all, at some point in their lives ran Bruccianis. We came to Australia in 1979 and my uncle Ren continued to run Brucci’s until it closed.

“Joseph Brucciani was born 22nd November 1930, Our darling Dad, who passed away with us all by his side on Wednesday evening (28th November 2018)"

“My Dad died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday night. Many of you will remember my dad from Brucciani's before he took us all to move to Australia. Dad was one of the good ones, he was funny, humble, genuine, honest, compassionate, loving and caring. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He leaves behind his heartbroken wife Kath, his living daughters Alida, Liana, Louisa and Theresa and his son Joseph."

“I have peace in my heart knowing he is reunited with his youngest daughter Maria. Our hearts are hurting but we know he will forever watch over us, until we are all reunited again.

“My Dad was a well-respected man. He was one of the good ones. Our hearts are hurting, but we know he will be watching over us all, and he is now reunited with his youngest daughter to keep vigil over us all. We love you Dad. You were the best Daddy in the whole world. Thank you for being our Dad. Forever in our hearts, minds and prayers. All our love now and forever. xxxxxx"

The family will celebrate Joe’s life by having a Rosary at Star of the Sea Church in Cottesloe tomorrow, and a funeral Mass on Wednesday at Star of the Sea Church, Australia.

Over the years the Brucciani family made many friends in Barrow. If you would like to leave your condolences for the family, please see the link below.
