Barrow Mayor to take a festive dip on Boxing Day to help raise money for charity

Barrow’s Mayor is taking the plunge to help raise cash and awareness of his chosen charities.

Councillor Bill McEwan will be taking a festive dip on Boxing Day and hopes being a northern male will help him brave the freezing water.

Bill picked Mind in Furness, Women’s Community Matters and St Mary’s Hospice as his three charities for his 12 months as Barrow Mayor and has already raised vital funds.

This will be his first Christmas dip and said it will be worth it if it helps good causes.

He will be placing sponsor forms around the Town Hall and at Mind’s shop on Dalton Road.

HuddleHub will update once we have a list of where you can go and sponsor Bill around Barrow when they have been handed out this week.

He said: “I am doing to raise money for three great local charities, Mind in Furness, St Mary's Hospice, and Women's Community Matters"

“I have never done it before  and I’m sure it will be a bit cold but we are men of the north!"

“I will make sure I have plenty of blankets on hand!”
