A mobility scooter user has suffered a serious leg injury after catching his leg on a metal bench.

When Wayne Jackson was driving over Jubilee Bridge this morning he noticed his friend on the side on the road with no shirt on.

Wayne said: "Stopped to see me mate with no shirt on wondering what's happening next to a man on a mobility scooter.

"He's was applying direct pressure to a large open wound when he waved me down asking to help him.

"He had caught his leg on a metal bench on channelside.

"If you are walking or cycling watch out for these benches as they are really sharp."

The mobility scooter user, Jimmy Armstrong said: "I would like to thank the people that helped me this morning near channelside, I am okay apart from a nasty leg injury which I’m having to be kept in overnight. Without these men I would have serious problems, thank you one again."
