Festive season starts in Barrow today with the annual Christmas Light Switch On

Thousands of people will gather outside Barrow Town Hall today for the annual Christmas Lights Switch On.

For the past 2 years with the support of the community, Beth and Denis Horan of Ultimate Events UK have organised this fantastic community event, bringing the locals together and kicking off the festive season in Barrow.

This year it has been said that the event which is once again organised by Ultimate Events UK and supported by Barrow Community Events and Barrow BID is going to be even bigger.

From 3pm there will be stalls, small rides for the kids and much more.

There will also be a free Santa's Grotto based in the Forum, from 3.30pm - 4.30pm, which is being run by the Barrow & District Disability Association.

Live on the stage will see performances from local people and groups, which include; Pakside GGI, Paris Corkill, Megan Doherty, South Lakes Rock School, Tiffany Southward, Zac Thompson, Lynsey, Cora Brennan, Beth Horan, Snow White Panto Cast, Stuart Michaels, Mystical Experience and Voce.

This is truly a community event, put on by the local, for the locals and it is great to see so many people getting involved.

The town centre will be packed with entertainment all afternoon from 1pm, with festive buskers, the Bread & Butter Theatre Company and the cast of The Forum’s Snow White Pantomime all entertaining shoppers and visitors in Barrow Town Centre, which has been organised by Barrow BID.

The lights are set to be switched on at 6pm with the event finishing at 6.30pm.

Also going on today is the Vintage Christmas Fair at the Dock Museum (11am - 4pm) and the Teen Christmas Market at Barrow Library (11am - 3pm).

If you are organising a local community event, please send details to events@huddlehub.co.uk or message us through Facebook
