New Barrow Dementia Day Care Centre open for business

Ostley House Residential Home in Barrow has opened their new Dementia Day Care Centre.

The home is run by Barrow & Districts Society for the Blind.

The home will provide day care for people with a diagnosis of either just dementia – or of dementia & visual impairment – a dual diagnosis that is becoming all too common.

Running from 8.30am – 5.15pm, Monday to Friday, the service will provide a person centred service to clients – as well as provide much needed respite opportunities for families and carers.  The cost is just £50 per person, per day (sorry, no half day bookings). The centre can accommodate a maximum of 10 people each day.

The service is run from a large, light and airy space within Ostley House and is staffed by experienced and knowledgeable support workers.

Refreshments, drinks, lunch and activities are all included in the price.

No minimum booking is required. So whether you’re looking for a permanent day care solution or simply one off respite, please call for further information.

People interested in the day centre can contact Ostley House on 01229 823566 or email ostley@barrowblindsociety.org.uk
