Large cannabis plants have been dug up by Barrow Police after they were discovered growing outdoors in a residential area of Barrow.

PCSO Phil Sullivan did some weeding this morning after the plants were spotted by a member of the public in a grassy area close to Flass Lane near Tesco Metro.

A spokeswoman said: "The plants were spotted by a member of the public and they will now be safely destroyed.

"The incident is being investigated and is being treated as intentional.

"Anyone with any information regarding this incident, or who may have seen anything suspicious in the Roose area is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Barrow Police posted a picture on their Twitter account with the caption: "A spot of gardening for Phil. If you're the green fingered person who grew these you’ve won 1st prize. call 101 to collect it. #greenfingers"
