Barrow Panto Stars delight Children's Ward

The star-studded cast of Sleeping Beauty visited Furness General Hospital Children’s Ward today to the delight of patients and staff.

The show, which will be coming to Barrow this Christmas, is headlined by Ricky Graves of EastEnders and Tina Malone of Shameless. The name drops don’t stop there with Ibiza Weekender and Big Brother star Ellie Young. Not to mention The Bay’s own Danny Matthews. The wonderfully talented Sophie Craig will be bearing the mantle of Princess Aurora, and the hilarious David Mitchell is to play Queenie Jeanie.
Children and staff across the ward were delighted to have a few characters paying them a visit, Ricky Graves was on top form, performing as King Arthur for the entire event. The actor, who gained fame as Gary Hobbs on EastEnders, committed to his role as he heckled members of the public and put on a show.

Ellie Young is excited to be playing Fairy Fabulous, a modern take on a fairy godmother, and despite having never been in a pantomime before, is diving in head first. She is the epitome of glamour, even dressed as a fairy, and her northern charm made her a firm favourite of the day.
David Mitchell will be making his own pantomime debut as the dam Queenie Jeanie. After being entranced by Producer Joe Purdy into the role after a late-night pub talk, the actor is nervous about beginning rehearsals, but thinks the cast are already ‘jelling together well.’
The festivities brought smiles not only to the children’s faces but to the parents and staff who were unfortunate enough to find themselves in Furness General this morning.

The cast then proceeded to a photo shoot at The Abbey House Hotel and to Parkside Academy, where the cast welcomed the dancers who will be performing alongside them.

Here at HuddleHub, we are waiting in anticipation for this pantomime. It is bound to be an amazing night. Rehearsals begin in December and tickets are available to buy now at:
