A business man is planning to invest £3.5m in local leisure



A leading businessman is planning to invest a further £3.5m in the Barrow area creating training, jobs and luxury accommodation.


Lucidity Group, the company behind The Townhouse, The Dunes Hotel, The Stagger Inn and The Castle Inn, Hornby, has been bought by Ken Wilson.
The Chairman of Catalyst Development has retained 100% of the group after successfully taking full control of the company last week.  

Mr Wilson, who previously invested £2.5 million in the development of The Dunes Hotel, recognises the significant part hospitality is currently playing in the rejuvenation of the local area.

Further investment is being made to refurbishing and developing The Dunes Hotel, with further plans for up to 60, 3 and 4 bedroom luxury private lodges, and additional investment of up to £3.5 million into the group already being planned.

A company spokesperson said: “Ken Wilson, whose background and successes in the healthcare industry have been well documented, wishes to establish Lucidity Group at the forefront of local hospitality, having identified existing skill base within the area.  Plans are already afoot to develop and manage a training academy for aspiring Chefs, Front and Back of House Staff, Management and Head Office staff working with Furness Catering College.

“Supporting the development and management of Lucidity Group are Suzy Bennett, Vaughn Kennedy and Gawain Steel.  With over 70 years combined experience within the hospitality industry, exciting times are ahead for the group, as well as the region.  Lucidity Group Head Office will be based at The Dunes Hotel.

“Lucidity Group are opening the doors to The Dunes Hotel in late August for a Family Fun Day where everybody is welcome to see the ongoing developments and refurbishments, complete with new children’s play area, access to refurbished Guest Bedrooms, the newly completed Terrace Bar, Wedding & Private Events function room and Beer Garden.  Everybody will be welcome to pop along and enjoy a complimentary glass of Prosecco and some ice cream.”
