Dalton Leisure Centre to celebrate 30th anniversary on Saturday

On Saturday 2nd of September, Dalton Leisure Centre will be celebrating their 30th anniversary.

To commemorate this achievement, they are offering a free 30-minutes swim for under 16’s.

The community run leisure centre has been a staple of Dalton since it’s opening in August 1987 by Princess Margaret, Countess of Cornwall. The Centre was built for the Trust under the Community Programme of the Manpower Services Commission and between October 1982 and June 1987 it provided employment for 270 people. This doesn’t include the dozens of unpaid workers who volunteers their time to complete the project in time for its opening.

The centre will hold competitions throughout the day, as well as activities and the free swim. I’m sure all of us have fond memories of the frog slide and swimming lessons. So there is no better time to pop down and show your appreciation. The pool will be open in half hour slots from 9.00am until 4.00pm (last ticket 3.30). Free pool admission for under 16’s. Free chocolate bar OR free hotdog for kid swimmers on production of ticket from reception. First come first served basis.

Congratulations Dalton Leisure Centre, here’s to the next 30 years!
