Gift Ideas and More as Barrow’s Gorgeous Gallery gets Spring Refurb

If you think The Gallery is a just a picture framing business then think again. This little shop offers a fabulous place to browse for that inspirational gift.

With a selection of beautiful paintings and prints to peruse there is something to suit all tastes and pockets plus they also have a wide range of gifts and cake decorations

Martin and Tracy Lewis co-own and run the family business which has been located on Cavendish Street since 1986, having previously relocated from Dalton Road and Paxton Terrace.

The busy shop assistants are Hannah, who is an exceptional artist, and Rebekah who has an amazing eye for detail and both ladies love to help if you have an enquiry or need a little help with a special purchase.

Martin and Tracy’s two children, Jessica and Indya occasionally help out too.

Tracy said ”We decided to refurbish the shop and wanted to maintain the originality of the business, but slightly update it. The flooring was starting to show its age and we realised if we had to shut the shop for the flooring, we could also do some updating at the same time.

“We enjoy getting to know our customers, and working closely as a team, which means we are able to work to tight deadlines, ensuring customer’s orders are completed in a timely manner. We are able to frame just about anything that customers bring in. We have been challenged with items such as boxing gloves, flowers and even props from Spectre, the James Bond film. We are willing to tackle just about anything and we love a challenge.

“We have undertaken work for many large businesses around Cumbria, such as Parkview Gardens and Risedale Estates. Due to the locality of the businesses we are able to print work from local artists and photographers, displaying home grown talents. It is always a pleasure going to work, we are a lively little team and we love to give good customer service. We are always happy to help.”

Three generations of the Lewis family have traded in Barrow, starting in the 1960’s on Paxton Terrace commencing with the popular Greenock Sweet Store, which then relocated to Dalton Road, Barrow.

The family business originated from Martin’s grandad Albert Lewis, and was then taken over by Martin’s parents Peter and Joan Lewis.

If you are struggling to find that unusual gift then pop into The Gallery and enjoy time browsing, you’re sure to find something special.
