Emergency services called after lady seen falling down Slag Bank in Barrow

Police were contacted at 5.58am today (27th April) following concern for the welfare of a woman who was seen falling down the Slag Bank in Barrow.

Officers attended along with colleagues from Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service.

Crews from the Barrow & Ulverston fire service used specialist climbing equipment to gain access to where the woman was.

The embankment was 20 metres deep and the woman was stranded halfway down.

Firefighters assisted the woman down to the base of the steep incline and safely handed her over to the care of waiting paramedics, she suffered no reported injuries..
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances as to how she had fallen.
