Cumbria County Council launch apprentice recruitment drive with events across the county

Cumbria County Council has launched a new apprentice recruitment campaign with over 50 rewarding career opportunities up for grabs for people of all ages and backgrounds.

What’s more, the council’s Apprenticeship Team and apprentices will be holding events across the county so the public can find out more about the wide range of opportunities available, in areas including construction and engineering, project management, firefighting, business administration, social care and many more.

• Wednesday 6 March 2019 Reception, Cumbria House, 117 Botchergate, Carlisle 9am-5pm
• Thursday 7 March 2019 Conference Room, Carlisle East Fire Station, Eastern Way, Carlisle 3.30pm-6pm
• Tuesday 12 March 2019 Whitehaven Library 3.30pm-5.30pm
• Thursday 14 March 2019 Penrith Leisure Centre 3.30pm-5.30pm

This latest campaign launches during National Apprenticeship Week (4 - 8 March) and will run until the end of March. The campaign will shine a spotlight on current and past apprentices including Lizzy, Neil, Scott, Shaney, and others, who star in a series of short videos which will be shared across social media throughout the month.

Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning, said:
“This latest campaign will highlight the high quality apprenticeship opportunities available at all levels within the county council across a wide range of roles.

“Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to earn while they learn and the overwhelming majority of our apprentices go on to secure permanent employment with the council or move on to further training.

“As one the county’s biggest employers, we employ over 6,000 people who come to work to serve the people of Cumbria, we look forward to welcoming new blood into this extremely rewarding workplace.”
