Acrobats, jugglers and dancing clowns were out in force in true big top style at Barrow’s Forum.

Abbey Musical Society’s presentation of Barnum started at the Forum’s main door on Duke Street, Barrow, as the talented cast were dressed up as an array of characters wearing colourful costumes, glittery shoes, stilts and smiles, as they welcomed the crowds to their show as they made their way into the auditorium.

Once everyone was packed into the Theatre the lights dimmed and the show’s main character, Barnum took to the stage.

Andy Bond played the lead role and he held the audience captivated as he sang, danced and set the scene for this ever popular show, along with Heather Collinge who played his wife, Charity Barnum.

Russell Brown took the role of Ringmaster and other key cast members include: Dave Stockton as Tom Thumb, the smallest man in the world, Sarah Hawkins as Joyce Heth, the world's oldest woman, and Leah Greaves as opera singer Jenny Lind.

Acrobatics and dancing was performed throughout the performance, as the cast sang along to their very own on stage band.

Based on the career of America’s greatest showman, Phineas Taylor Barnum, this is the story of how he joined with James A. Bailey to form The Greatest Show on Earth.

The well-known local amateur dramatic society brought the stage to life and it was truly amazing to watch.

Roll up, roll up, come and see the circus, and don’t miss this opportunity to see local talent at it’s very best!

The show is on every evening this week including Saturday and tickets can be purchased from the Forum's website.
