Emergency crews left shaken after ambulance attacked with beer cans and wine bottles

Emergency crew have been left very shaken after a member of the public attacked an Ambulance.

The North West Ambulance Service had to take an ambulance off the road for repairs after a member of the public threw beer cans and bottles at an ambulance, smashing the windows.

The actions of this member of the general public has caused:

- A very shaken ambulance crew
- An extra ambulance required to attend
- A vehicle off the road
- A hefty repair bill

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to an incident at a private address on Saturday evening (10 Feb). With the patient inside, a family member started throwing beer cans and a wine bottle at the ambulance resulting in a smashed window.
“Thankfully there were no injuries as a result but both the ambulance crew and the patient were very shaken up and this has resulted in the vehicle being taken off the road as well as a hefty repair bill. However, the outcome could have been a lot worse!
“This is the second attack of its kind in recent weeks and we just have no words. We’re appalled that some members of the public can treat us so badly when we’re only here to help.
“The man in question was arrested and we are now working with Police in their enquiries.

"Remember we’re only here to help, please look after us as we do for you".
