Children delighted as Walney school receives staggering cheque for £3836.88

This morning HuddleHub was delighted to be invited to South Walney Infant and Nursery School in Barrow as a cheque was presented to the school for a staggering £3836.88.

Friends of South Walney Infant & Nursery School are proud to have raised funds at their Summer 2017 fair (£1064) and Christmas 2017 fair (£886.44).

Colleagues Beth Asbury and Marie Oxley who both work for Barclays Bank, each used their matched fundraising allowance to raise even more funds for the school.

For every £1 raised (up to £1000), Barclays will give another £1, altogether bringing the sum raised to a staggering £3836.88.

The funds will be used to enhance the children's learning throughout school.

A key project going to be developed in the school is a mud kitchen area for nursery and reception children's play, this will help the children's creativity and exploration.

The mud kitchen will be even more special to the school as it is to be dedicated to the memory of a very special teaching assistant, Mrs Sarah Devlin, who touched the hearts of many of the children she cared for.

Sarah a keen baker, lost her courageous battle to cancer in Summer 2017.

Friends of South Walney Infant & Nursery School would like to thank all of the school children and their families for their wonderful support.
