Mind in Furness hold mindfulness and Recovery Star sessions in Millom

MIND in Furness is now holding mindfulness and Recovery Star sessions in Millom and they are open to all.

They take place at The Tin Chapel, Mainsgate Road, between 10am and 3.30pm every Monday.

Melanie Gilmour, Mind in Furness Service manager said: "We deliver a service in Millom offering support to anybody experiencing mental distress, this includes service users, carers and anybody requiring advice or information on a range of mental wellbeing topics. We offer a safe and caring environment where everyone can feel listened to, supported and included.

"We deliver the “Safe Space” project from The Tin Chapel on Mainsgate Rd Millom every Monday from 10. 0am-3pm pm. A Mind in Furness support worker along with support volunteers will facilitate the sessions which will offer group peer support and access to one to one specialist support where appropriate. Come along for a cuppa and a chat, share your ideas and help us develop the service in to something that can really benefit the Millom community."

Mind in Furness Connect worker Julie Wilson added: "It is a really welcoming environment where you can come along and make new friends. "There are a lot of exciting courses coming up to help with self esteem, self help, anxiety and depression. "Recovery Star is currently running and when that finishes Mindfulness courses will start.

"Pop in on a Monday and have a chat with us or pick up some leaflets about what is on offer. "Everyone is welcome so please pop in and say hello."

Recovery Star is a 6 weeks group programme using the outcomes measurement tool Recovery Star is a focus for discussion and development of personal action plans. Mind in Furness offer 6 sessions of group work which encourages interaction and peer support followed by 6 individual one-to-one sessions to capture action points and to support clients to make changes.

We also offer Connect Sessions that relate in more detail to the subjects that are discussed as part of the Recovery Star, for example group educational sessions on money management.
