Askam woman set to have beautiful long hair chopped off to help children battling cancer

A 31-year-old Askam woman is having her beautiful long hair chopped off to help children battling cancer.

Heather Teeley says she wants to put her crowning glory to good use by raising enough money to pay for just one wig for a poorly youngster and help them regain their confidence.

The young mum, who works for Playdale Playgrounds in Haverthwaite explained: “I will be getting it chopped off on Saturday, February 23rd at Coco Hair and Beauty in Barrow.

“The reason I’m doing it as I have long hair and I don’t put it to any good use, I have always wanted to donate it to The Little Princess Trust rather than just get it cut because there are young girls and boys that need it a lot more than I do.

“I know it costs between £350 and £500 to make the wig, so if I am able to donate my hair and raise as much money as I can, I can hopefully get enough money to make a full wig, and give them the confidence they had before losing their hair.

“It would mean the world to me if you were able to help me raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity, from the bottom of my heart I thank each and everyone of you who sponsor me to make a child's dream come true.”
